Yvan Le Marc, Microbial Spoilers in Food 2013 Scientific Committee MemberYvan Le Marc works as a Microbial Risk Modeller at Unilever.
He obtained his PhD from the University of West Brittany in 2001; his dissertation focused on the development of predictive models for Listeria monocytogenes. He has over 10 years of experience in Food Microbiology both in academia and industry. From 1997 to 2001, he worked at ADRIA Recherches in Quimper. In 2001, he joined the Computational Microbiology Research Group at the Institute of Food Research in Norwich. Since May 2010, he works at the Unilever Safety and Environmental Assurance Centre in Colworth.
His key interest is predicting the behavior of microorganisms to enable their control in consumer products. He has contributed to the development of various databases on microbial responses in food environments and predictive software tools. His present research also considers the development of mechanistic models and the integration of new data forms (omics) in microbial risk assessments.
