Paul In't Veld, Microbial Spoilers in Food 2013 scientific committee memberPaul in't Veld studied Food technology at the Agricultural University in Wageningen (The Netherlands) from 1979 to 1987and specialised in food microbiology and food chemistry. He obtained his PhD in 1998 on the topic: The development and evaluation of microbiological reference material for food microbiology.

Worked, from 1987 to 1999, at the National Institute of Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).

Since 1999 he works at the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product safety Authority (NVWA), the competent authority in The Netherlands.

His main interests are microbiological toxins (e.g. cereulide produced by Bacillus cereus), (alternative) method validation and method standardisation (ISO, CEN).
